As we all know that there has been lots of controversy on this subject in the media for a while now. What comes in your mind when you think of a beauty pageant? Size 4/6 models? Bathing suits? Girls who have an edge over themselves and stand out than the average looking girl?? Yes that's all that it is made of!! We unfortunately don't think of people with a good soul who think inner beauty is the one that stands out the most. But practically speaking these beauty pageants are really a money making business so quality is required. We don't want to see average people that we can see on the street walk the ramp because no everyone has what it takes to be a supermodel! We watch them so we get inspired and want to start maybe dressing or looking like them as much as we can.

ReplyDeleteI like this topic too! One my my best friends from back home has been involved with beauty pageants for the past couple of years and I have always been a bit weary of them. She is a curvy girl and about a month before every pageant, she goes on these crazy diets and loses way to much weight. I think it is very unhealthy and also goes completely against natural beauty. It makes me think that beauty pageants are all about fake beauty and not celebrating and body you already have! It is not the best way to encourage young girls to feel good about themselves and like the person they are and they way they look!
Along the lines of being exploitive, I don't feel that the people in the pageants show any more then they would normally. More pageants are telecasted and Im sure they wouldnt want their shows to look degrading! I do feel like what they have to show (in bathing suits and such) is trying to sell sex and your don't need to show every bit of your skin to be seen as attractive or beautiful!
